  • Are Surgical Penis Enlargement Methods Really Safe?

There are a lot of ways to enlarge the penis, and surgery is one of them. Men have various reasons why they choose to undergo the surgery, but like most surgical procedures, surgical penis enlargement methods also come with a number of serious risks.

    Why it is done

Men may choose to have surgical penis enlargement if they are unsatisfied with the current size of their penis. Some may choose to do this in order to be more satisfying to their sexual partners with a larger or longer penis. Penile enlargement surgery can cost between $4,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of procedure. This may involve lengthening the penis by cutting the ligaments to expose more shaft and widening its girth by adding tissue. The surgery is often done along with the insertion of penile implants that replace the corpus cavernosum and is performed on men suffering from complete impotence. Also implanted on the groin or the scrotum is a pump, which can be manipulated by hand to gain an erection.

    Biggest risks

The inability to attain an erection is one of the biggest risks when undergoing this surgery because of the possibility of nerve damage. The inability to ejaculate, which could be temporary or permanent, could also occur. With the risks involved, surgical lengthening of the penis is only recommended to patients suffering from erectile dysfunction, those with congenital penile abnormalities, or those who suffered penile problems after an injury.

This surgery is never 100% safe, although you lower your chances of nerve damage and permanent impotence by having this surgery performed by a skilled and expert surgeon. If you have a normal functioning penis, it may be better to resort to non-surgical methods of penis enlargement to avoid the serious risks.
